Many weeks ago, I contacted the church that James & Etta belonged to for years. Since the church was regularly sending them newsletters and such, I felt they should know about their move to Charlottesville. Initially, I didn't hear anything back. After James passed, I shared this information with them as well.
I recently received a note from the church secretary. It was precious to read- to sense her connection to my grandparents, namely Etta, and to connect with her personally as well. Below is the note she sent me:
"I have so enjoyed your journal and the updates on Etta. I don't think of Christmas that I don't think about Etta's Ambrosia! She would make it every year and bring it to the Women's Circle here at the church. Etta is something isn't she!
I have had so many folks ask about Etta and want to send her Christmas cards or notes to keep in touch. It has been some time since they have talked with her. Whenever we would call she would just say they were having some family problems and would get back to church soon. Little did we know. I know that **** was a source of worry and upset
for her a lot of the time.
If you can tell me where to send cards and notes, whether it be to the nursing home or to your home, I would certainly appreciate it. Every time we have a Circle meeting at least one of the ladies will ask if I have heard anything.
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas with much of this ordeal behind you. We have kept you, Etta and James in our prayers as I know this hasn't been an easy road. Thank God for grandchildren like you. Look forward to hearing from you soon."
